Google Local Ads
Connecting Google Local Ads turns your Google Local Services Ads account into a source in Auto-Respond. Messages and leads coming from your Local Services Ads are picked up automatically, answered according to your Messaging Settings, and shown on your Leads page.
Google Local Ads is a two-way messaging source — inbound messages and outbound replies both go through Auto-Respond.
What gets captured from Google Local Ads
Every Local Services Ads lead brings over:
- Customer name
- Phone number (Google Local Services provides phone numbers on most leads)
- Postal code
- Service the customer requested
- Any message text the customer sent through Google
Connecting a Google Local Ads source
Open Sources
In Auto-Respond, go to Sources and click Add Google Local Ads.
Sign in with Google and authorize
You’ll be redirected to Google. Sign in with the Google account that manages your Local Services Ads profile and grant Auto-Respond permission to read leads and send replies on your behalf. Your Google password is never shared with Auto-Respond — only a secure access token is returned after you approve.
Review activation
After authorizing, you’re redirected back to Auto-Respond. Your Google Local Services account appears as a new source on the Sources page with a green Active status and a link to Messaging Settings.
What’s different about this source
- Phone numbers usually arrive with the lead. Unlike Facebook Messenger or Instagram, Google Local Services typically provides the customer’s phone number on the lead itself — you don’t have to ask for it in conversation.
- Service category is included. Google tells you which service the customer requested, which the AI assistant can use in its reply.
- You must be the account owner or manager. If authorization fails, confirm the Google account you’re signing in with has access to the Local Services Ads profile.
Messaging Settings for this source
A Google Local Ads source supports the full set of Messaging Settings:
- Conversation Setup — AI assistant or predefined messages
- Follow-ups — nurturing sequences
- Timing — business hours and delays
- Integrations — CRM and team notifications
- Contact Info — what happens when the customer shares a phone number or email
See Messaging Settings for details on each tab.

Troubleshooting
- Authorization failed — Make sure you’re signed into the Google account that owns or manages the Local Services Ads profile, then try again.
- No account appears after connecting — Confirm your Google account has access to a Local Services Ads profile. If you manage the profile through a separate email, sign in with that one.
- Messages or leads aren’t arriving — Confirm the source is Active, check that the Google authorization is still valid, and re-authenticate if needed.
- Replies aren’t being sent — Check your Messaging Settings. Google Local Services has its own messaging rules that may hold replies outside certain windows.
- Billing warning on the card — Open Billing and resolve the payment issue. The source won’t receive new leads until billing is current.
